Stroke Play

The simplest way to keep score.

Any · Individual · Beginner-Friendly

The Basics

Count every stroke on every hole. Lowest total wins. That's it.

How to Play

Play 18 (or 9) holes. Write down your score on each hole. Add them up. Lowest number wins.

Scoring

Every stroke counts — drives, chips, putts, penalties. Your total is your total.

Strategy Tips

Don't blow up on one hole. A bogey is fine. A triple changes your whole round. Play smart when you're out of position.

Variations

Net stroke play (using handicaps) is common in leagues and tournaments. Gross is raw score, net subtracts your handicap strokes on designated holes.
